For years I avoided Dollar Tree, I guess mostly because I figured that the products had to be junk to be sold that cheap. But the last several years I’ve started to shop there more and have come to love Dollar Tree and it’s bargains!
Yes, some things are super cheap and not worth buying. And some things aren’t even that great of a deal and are cheaper bought elsewhere. But the truth is, you can get some great things for just $1.00!
Since you all enjoyed my What to Buy at Aldi post so much, just for fun, I thought I’d share my favorite Dollar Tree deals too!
Update: Since writing this, Dollar Tree has increased prices on some items to more than $1.00. Even so, I still find these items to be good deals.

8. Pregnancy Tests
I know what you are thinking- “But do they actually work?!” The answer is yes! We used these pregnancy tests to find out if we were pregnant with 4 of our 5 children and they were totally accurate!
9. Body Wash
I actually rarely need to spend money on body wash, just because I can typically get it free thanks to my couponing. But $1.00 is a really good price for body wash and if you don’t coupon, it’s worth checking out!
10. Toothbrushes
Toothbrushes can be crazy expensive, so I was excited to find them at Dollar Tree- and they even carry name brand ones! They also have kid’s toothbrushes too, which I love.
11. Toothpaste
Again, I get lots of toothpaste free with my couponing. But if you don’t do coupons, this is a great price and they even carry Crest!
12. Flossers
Another favorite! And of course, you can’t beat the price!
13. Cotton Swabs
I’m always surprised how much cotton swabs cost when I need to buy them and was pleasantly surprised when I spotted them at Dollar Tree!
14. Hair Stuff
Headbands, clips, ponytail holders and more! All for super cheap!
15. Reading and Sun Glasses
Such a great price, right? And no, I don’t use reading glasses myself, but I have several friends and family that do and they love getting them cheap at Dollar Tree.
One friend said she really likes that she can buy several pairs to have at different spots without spending a lot, plus, if a grandchild happens to break them, it’s not a big loss.
DOLLAR TREE DEALS on FIRST AID SUPPLIES
16. Bandaids
I was skeptical that cheap bandaids would actually work well, but we’ve not had any trouble so far! And my children think it’s great that I now get fun kid bandaids. I used to rarely by them because they were more expensive!
17. First Aid Tapes
Dollar Tree carries both waterproof and paper tape. I love being able to stock my first aid box so cheaply!
18. First Aid Gauze
If you’re like us, you rarely need gauze. But if you’ve ever had to buy it at a drugstore, you know it’s not cheap! Definitely worth stopping by the Dollar Tree instead!
19. Peroxide and Isopropyl Alcohol
More first aid supplies at a good price!
OFFICE SUPPLIES
20. Pens, Pencils and Pencil Lead
For some reason, we seem to go through pens and pencils like crazy! I guess it probably has something to do with having school-age children who like to “borrow” my writing instruments. At any rate, I’ve been grateful for Dollar Tree’s inexpensive pens, pencils and pencil lead.
21. Glue and Tape
With three children that love to use glue and tape and one child that is especially interested in crafts, I’ve been very grateful for Dollar Tree’s great price!
22. Sticky Notes
Use sticky notes a lot or have a child like I do that loves to play with them? Dollar Tree will be your friend!
ORGANIZING SUPPLIES
23. Plastic Baskets
Dollar Tree always has a great selection of fun baskets, perfect for helping you stay organized. They even have clothes baskets!
24. Totes
Totes like this are super versatile and I find myself using them in different places throughout the house to corral items.
25. Over the Door Hooks
Hooks like this can be so handy!
26. Shelf Organizers
I wish I would have known that Dollar Tree carried these sooner! I bought a couple for our kitchen at another discount store and could have saved myself several dollars.
CREATIVITY AND LEARNING
27. Coloring Books
My girls love coloring and Dollar Tree has become my favorite place to find books to keep them supplied. They also have some adult coloring books too.
28. Sudoku and Crossword Puzzle Books
My oldest and I both enjoy sudoku and word finds and of course I love this price! 😉
29. Puzzles
We all love doing puzzles, and while Dollar Tree puzzles aren’t quite as quality as some puzzles, they aren’t bad either. And because they are so cheap, I don’t stress if the kids mess them up or lose a piece when they are playing with them. I figure they got their $1 worth of fun out of them!
30. Stickers
Kids love stickers, right? I know mine can never seem to have enough! Get them cheap at Dollar Tree!
31. Craft Supplies
Baker’s twine, popsicle sticks, ribbon, beads, glitter, jute twine, pompoms. Dollar Tree has it all!
HOUSEHOLD ITEMS
32. Bleach
The cheapest place I’ve found to buy bleach! I don’t use bleach a lot, but I do like to add it to my loads of white towels when I add dish clothes.
33. Light Bulbs
To save money, we’ve switched to LED bulbs, which can often be pricier to buy. But thanks to Dollar Tree, that’s no longer such an issue!
34. Lint Rollers
I use lint rollers all the time! My girls both have long, fine hair and I tend to have hair all over my lap when I’m done combing them. Lint rollers work great to clean it up in a cinch. I also like to use them to clean lampshades and cloth blinds.
35. Flashlights
Our kids love flashlights! Not sure why, but they play with them a lot. And I love that I can keep them supplied without breaking the bank!

Love the Dollar Tree. I don’t wear glasses but need readers…I buy several pair to have EVERYWHERE! Also love the Spring Egg Rolls and the Frozen Pretzel rolls in the freeze department. Also another go to for me is the Magret Holmes season Field Peas in a can…much cheaper than the grocery store.
Lydia Beiler
Yes, the perfect place to buy readers for sure! I haven’t tried any of the other items though. Thanks for sharing!
Anita
When I wore contact lenses, I had Dollar Tree reading glasses color coordinated for every outfit. It was fun for me and people frequently commented (and chuckled). Also had fun accessorizing with colorful neck scarves from DT.
Lydia Beiler
That is such a fun idea, Anita! I mean, for $1 a pair, why not?!
JUST JUST
I Love Dollar Tree too – many of us poor folk scraping by must find a way to make funds stretch more out of less this making Dollar Tree a necessity for many of the.products I need: Shasta 2.5 liters of soda (done bought 10 at a time), GAIN and TIDE small liquid laundry detergent and Fab Softener Downy too, Jumex Nectar (yum yums), Gossner non refrigerated milk, Bleach, Household Spray Cleaner and disinfectant, Mrs Freshley’s snacks (chocolate swiss rolls, buddy bars, honey buns, etc.) , ice cream sandwiches, drumstick cones, dish and hand.towels, I about to head down and get me a couple bags of Candy (Peach Rings, Orange Slices, Wintergreen lifesavers – always
Thank You Dollar Tree! Happy New Year 2021 everyone?? JUST JUST

I love it when i can get Modge Podge at DT. At Joanns or Michaels its 7 or 8 bucks! Its great for crafts!! I also love the sponges they are cheap enough to use and toss. That is so health friendly. They also sell beads occasionally at the very best price around. I dont reccomend the dish soap. I feel it leaves a sticky film on my dishes and hands.
Lydia Beiler
I didn’t realize that DT had Modge Podge- that’s a good find! And great tip about the sponges too.
Corrie
I love the Dollar Store too ! I may be the only one to walk out of our town’s store $100 poorer ☺️ I have a serious problem. ?
You have great suggestions that really are a great deal there. Though, I wanted to chime in about personal experiences with a couple of the items that makes them less of a screamin deal. Beware of quality! Especially regarding
– the plasticware – it breaks very easily
– The pens – some leak right away and some loose thier caps for good day 1
– Isopropyl Alcohol – is not effective under 60% alcohol and they sell 50%
– Flashlights – any i have tried go out quickly and are never very bright To begin with
– Cotton swabs – they disintegrate rapidly, even when not exposed to water somehow?
But couple other awesome bargains:
+ The lipgloss!: its my fave if anywhere. I like the beautiful coral, its super glossy and tastes and smells great! Way e than any other kind ibe tried (not that I’m sitting there eating it, but inevitably some makes its way onto the taste buds)
+ Hand soap: they have regular sized Dial that other retailers carry for 2x+ the amount
+ Tools: they have an 8 piece screwdriver that works great and holds up, a sturdy little hammer, a sturdy level and a couple other impressive offerings
+ Cleaning supplies: they have name brand magic erasers and cleaning gloves that are a great price
One thing that is not a bargain is their garbage bags. Per bag prices are higher than my other local retailers.
Ok, that was a lot, i just got excited about the topic. I’m a nerd like that. I just wanted to help out in maximizing everyone’s use if such an awesome place. Happy $ storing!!
Lydia Beiler
I love your excitement, Corrie! I can nerd out on things like this too. And I really appreciate you taking the time to offer such helpful tips and input! The hand soap and magic eraser tips are my favorite.
One comment on the isopropyl alcohol- my understanding is that anything under 50% isn’t effective. So I think the DT would actually be okay to use. However, it’s good to note as some people might prefer paying more and buying a stronger alcohol.
