Amish Turkey Stuffing

Deliciously crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside, we love this stuffing as a Thanksgiving main dish or as a way to use up leftover turkey!

  • 10 cups dried bread cubes (see Notes below for how to make your own)
  • 3/4 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 1/2 cups turkey or chicken broth
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 cups turkey, chopped


  1. Combine dried bread cubes, celery and parsley flakes in large bowl.
  2. Melt butter; and add broth, salt, pepper, onion powder and egg.  Mix well.
  3. Pour over bread mixture and combine.
  4. Add turkey and mix well.
  5. Put into a greased casserole dish (9 x 13 or 3 ½ qt.)
  6. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.

Recipe Notes

To make the cubes, cut a slice of bread into strips about ¾ in. wide.  Cut each strip, to create cubes.  Once you have enough cubes cut, place them in a single layer onto a shallow baking sheet (cookie sheets with side work well).  Bake at 375°, until cubes are dry, usually about 10 minutes.  You can use the cubes immediately.

- This dish freezes really well!  Just mix it up and freeze it unbaked.  When you are ready to use it, allow it to thaw completely and then bake as directed.
